French Winetasting 31 May

Champagne, Croquet and Cake (CCC), 2 September 2:30pm - 5:30pm

With the success of the village fête still ringing in our ears, and our limbs recovering from tossing hundreds of crêpes, we’re turning our thoughts to our next event. We’ve decided this year to move one letter up the alphabet from BBB (Bubbly, Boules and Brunch) to CCC (Champagne, Croquet and Cake) on Sunday 2nd September, 2:30pm to 5:30pm. We thought this would be a delightful way to spend an afternoon on the last Sunday of the summer holidays, and we hope you will be able to join us in the Wiltshires’ wonderful garden at Forest Ridge, Paddockhurst Lane, Balcombe RH17 6QZ. A very good price of £7.50 per head to include a glass of champagne, a wide selection of cakes, pastries and eclairs, a cup of tea and free entry to the croquet competition. Children are very welcome and Family tickets are just £20. There will also be a pay bar with excellent French wines on offer as usual, as well as soft drinks.

Looking further ahead we’re hoping to provide some entertainment in the Victory Hall on 10th November, so please keep the data in your diary. Further details on all our events will be on posters nearer the time and if you’re on our mailing list we will keep you up to date and let you know what’s happening when and how to get tickets. If you would like to be added to our mailing list, please get in touch - you can find contact details in the list of clubs and organisations towards the back of this magazine.

On behalf of the French Association, I wish you a wonderful summer and very much look forward to seeing you on Sunday 2nd September.

AGM 2018

The Balcombe French Association is holding its AGM on Wednesday 21st March at 8 pm in Bramble Hall (not the Forst Room as previously advertised). Our theme this year is Cocktails, Canapés and Quiz (or it that Cuiz? or Quocktails?!) - all complimentary of course!  The format for the evening will be a short formal meeting to review activities over the year and present our accounts etc, followed by a bit of fun learning how to make one or two cocktails - with a French theme naturally - while tasting delicious canapés. There will a be a light-hearted quiz to get you in the mood and plenty of opportunities to experiment with different ingredients to make your perfect cocktail - with or without alcohol.

We do hope you will join us as these evenings are always great fun. Non-members welcome, and if you have ideas for anything you would like us to organise this year, we would love to hear from you. We’re planning our usual Bubbly Boules and Brunch in the Summer plus hopefully, a vineyard drink, a wine tasting and something for the Autumn, plus our crêpes stall at the village fête which this year falls on Bastille Day! So another great year ahead.

May I remind you that membership subscriptions are now due for the year - you can pay either via PayPal on the website or at the AGM, and we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 21st.

Santé!

Max Preston Bell

PS: Please note change of venue to Bramble Hall
