Barn Dance - Saturday 11th November at The Victory Hall, 7pm

The magnificent and not-to-be-missed French Barn Dance takes place in our superb Victory Hall on Saturday November 11th starting at 7.00pm and we’re looking forward to seeing you there. Last year’s dance was a sell out and proved extremely enjoyable for all ages. It was great to see so many youngsters charging across the floor and joining in with such enthusiasm. There are also more sedate waltzes and plenty of opportunity to get your feet tapping and your partners twirling.

We are delighted that our dear friends from Dansez Francais will once again lead the music and encourage us in our dancing by joining in and showing us how it’s done.  We get personal tuition as we go along which makes life much easier for us, and the wonderful Lizi Storey will guide us all the way.  Many of these dances originated in the Celtic parts of France and the British Isles and are designed for a whole village to join in. Absolutely no prior experience is required and you’ll love the music.

The evening consists of live music once again from the Gin&Tonics, as much (or as little) dancing as you like, and of course we’ll provide one of our delicious meals. All very reasonably priced at £10 for an adult ticket (£12 non members) and £5 for youngsters. The bargain value family ticket is £25 for members or £30 non members. Children are very welcome and can join in all the dances. Tickets are on sale now at Threads or you can visit our website.

And in case you’re wondering why on earth you would want to go to a barn dance, particularly a French one - all I want to say is that until you’ve tried it you’ll never know what fun it can be. So if you haven’t been before, give it a go. We had some great videos from last year. I’ll see if I can get one of them onto the website.

Of course you can always just enjoy the food and the atmosphere with a glass of wine, or two, if you prefer. We will have our usual bar with a great selection of French wines.

P.S. there is no need to speak French - we do do everything in English.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 11th November at 7.00pm.

Bubbly, Boules and Brunch 2017 with Hog Roast - Sunday 10th September

BFA's ever-popular Bubbly, Boules and Brunch will be held on Sunday 10th September from noon until 16.00 at Lodgelands, Crawley Lane, Balcombe.

The summer holidays are drawing to a close and a new term is about to begin, so it’s time to think of Bubbly, Boules and Brunch.

We’re fast approaching the date for our fantastic BBB on Sunday 10th September at Lodgelands from noon until 4pm. We've had over 100 people for the past three years, and the day has proved very popular with families of all ages, so please hurry to buy your tickets at Threads or online.

As usual, this will be excellent value at just £10 per head for members and £13 for non-members. Family tickets are an extremely reasonable £25 for members and £30 for non-members.

Included in the price is a glass of fizz on arrival (or wine or soft drink if you prefer), hog roast (or vegetarian option), salads and ice cream.

You also get free entry to the hotly contested Boules Competition - last year the Jacquie Dickinson cup was won by Nicky and Dave Gould for the second time in the cup’s history.  Will they make it a hat trick? There will be a pay bar with plenty of fizz and great French wines on offer, all at very reasonable prices, plus a raffle and prizes. Remember, we’re not trying to make money at these events.  All we want to do is cover our costs and have a great time.

And all this while relaxing in the beautiful garden at Lodgelands in our gorgeous Sussex countryside. Can there be a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

Tickets are only £10 per head for members and £13 for non-members. Family tickets are an extremely reasonable £25 (£30 non-members) and are available from Threads or via PayPal on our website. Children under 5 are free.

Please book your tickets soon to help with catering, or get in touch with a committee member. We look forward to seeing you all at Lodgelands, Crawley Lane (just follow the balloons)!

Bring your friends along and make this another great afternoon to remember. Remember to bring fold-up chairs and tables or a picnic rug if possible.
