Barn Dance - Saturday 15th October at The Victory Hall, 7pm

As those of you who were there will no doubt agree, our Bubbly Boules event was another stonking success with families and friends of all ages thoroughly enjoying the hog roast, the garden and the boules competition, which was won by Nicky and Dave Gould for the second time!  Congratulations to them.  The weather was kind and all in all it was a great day.  We are once again very grateful to Gillian and Tara for being such wonderful hosts.

Now our attention turns to Autumn and the magnificent French Barn Dance in the Victory Hall on Saturday October 15th from 7.00pm. Live music from the Buzzniks, sit down meal and as much (or as little) dancing as you like. And all very reasonably priced at £10 for members, £15 for non-members and £25 for a family ticket.  We’ll even do concessionary prices for long-time Balcombe residents or larger groups.  Children are very welcome and can join in all the dances. Tickets are on sale now at Threads or you can visit our website.

Please book early as it does make our catering a nightmare if everyone leaves it to the last minute!

Talking of catering, our wonderful cooks have a tasty feast in store for you. Come along and try our coq-au-vin or vegetarian tarts. Plus there will be pudding and ice cream, and probably some cheese &helip; so you won’t go hungry!

And in case you’re wondering why on earth you would want to go to a barn dance, particularly a French one - all I want to say is that until you’ve tried it you’ll never know what fun it can be.  So if you haven’t been before, give it a go.  The French dances are all very easy - similar to English Barn Dances but with less emphasis on couples and with generally easier moves.  They are designed for the whole village to take part in and are for all ages.

A group from Dansez Francais will show us how it’s done and join in with us so we get personal tuition as we go along. They make life much easier for us! And the wonderful Lizi Storey will guide us all the way.

Of course you can always just enjoy the food and the atmosphere with a glass of wine, or two, if you prefer. We will have our usual bar with a great selection of French wines.

P.S. there is no need to speak French - we do do everything in English.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 15th.

Bubbly, Boules and Brunch 2016 with Hog Roast - Sunday 4th September

BFA's ever-popular Bubbly, Boules and Brunch event will be held on Sunday 4th September from noon until 16.00 at Lodgelands, Crawley Lane, Balcombe.

What a wonderful summer we’ve been having - dare I say it has been proper French weather! Long may it continue.

We’re fast approaching the date for our fantastic BBB on Sunday 4th September at Lodgelands from noon until 4pm. We've had over 100 people for the past two years, so please hurry to buy your tickets at Threads or online.

As usual, this will be excellent value at just £10 per head for members and £15 for non-members. Family tickets are an extremely reasonable £25 (for members and non-members alike).

Included in the price is a glass of fizz on arrival (or wine or soft drink if you prefer), hog roast (or vegetarian option), salads and ice cream.

You also get free entry to the hotly contested Boules Competion - last year the Jacquie Dickinson cup was won by a team from Burgess Hill, so lets bring it back to Balcombe! There will be a pay bar with plenty of fizz and great French wines on offer, plus a raffle and prizes.

And all this while relaxing in the beautiful garden at Lodgeland in our gorgeous Sussex countryside. Can there be a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

Tickets are only £10 per head for members and £15 for non-members. Family tickets are an extremely reasonable £25 (for members and non-members alike) and are available from Threads or via PayPal on our website. Children under 5 are free.

Please book your tickets soon to help with catering, or get in touch with a committee member. We look forward to seeing you all at Lodgelands, Crawley Lane (just follow the balloons)!

Bring your friends along and make this another great afternoon to remember. Remember to bring fold-up chairs and tables or a picnic rug if possible.

Wine Tasting - 22nd April 2016

Affordable Wine Tasting - 7.30pm, 22nd April, Victory Hall

Tickets:  Members £15, Non-members £17.50

Ticket includes tasting as many of the wines as you like, plus a light buffet to keep you going.

Our wine tastings have been so well attended that we’ve sold all our tickets over the past two years.  So you’ll need to make sure you buy your tickets as soon as possible. We’ve also increased our capacity slightly and organised an indoor event as a precaution against the less than ideal weather we’ve suffered from recently.
