Casino Royale Evening

Casino Royale Evening - Saturday 17th November

Casino Royale Evening at the Victory Hall

Saturday 17th November, 7.00pm for 7.30pm

The grapes have been picked from the French vineyards and the nights are drawing in.  The wine is gently fermenting in the barrels and we're getting closer to the all important third Thursday in November when we can celebrate the arrival of the Beaujolais Nouveau. And it's around this time when the Balcombe French Association holds its Autumn event which this year is a Casino Evening with, of course, a French as well as a James Bond theme. Hence Casino Royale!
If you haven't been to one of these casino nights before, then now's your chance to learn all about roulette, black jack and poker without having to risk losing a penny. We'll provide you with "funny money" and there will be professional croupiers and dealers to explain how each game works. Then we sit down and gamble the night away.

Wine Tasting - A Tour of France - Friday 18 May

Friday 18 th May 2012 at Stumlet, Oldlands Avenue 7.00pm

For some unknown reason, wine tastings are very popular in Balcombe! As some of you will know, our chairman is particularly interested in the wines of Burgundy (and has many photographs of the area to share with any captive audience!). Maybe this is because the monks of Cluny, who were in large part responsible for the development of the vineyards in the region, had to supply 3 pints of wine a day to the patients in their hospitals.

We would like to have tastings on different subjects and themes and being in Balcombe we’re spoilt for choice. This year we’ve asked Grape & Grain of Haywards Heath to give us a tasting based on a Tour of France (or should that be a Pour de France?).
